The SX suffix is Annovi Reverberi’s designation for the reversed-rotation build, and it exists because rotation is not a preference on a triplex plunger pump: the crankcase lubrication pattern and drivetrain loading are engineered for one direction, and the correct answer to a left-turning drive is a left-turning pump, never a standard pump run backward.

Why Rotation Is a Specification, Not a Setting
Run a standard pump backward and nothing complains at first — which is exactly the danger. The crankcase’s splash lubrication is designed around the crank’s intended direction; reversed, oil distribution to bearings and crosshead surfaces degrades, and wear accumulates silently until it presents as a failed bearing or scored plunger far ahead of schedule. Threaded drive hardware torqued against intended rotation can also work loose.
