HYD5550 | Hydraulic Motor Pump Drive Unit | 5.5 GPM 5000 PSI | SRG Production Strip

HYD5550 is what happens when strip-class pressure meets production-class coverage: an Annovi Reverberi SRG-series drive unit delivering 5.5 GPM at up to 5000 PSI at 1450 RPM. The SRG platform — AR’s extreme-pressure evolution of the RG frame, published to 5100 PSI with ceramic plungers and a nickel-plated brass head as standard — already brings 5000 PSI-class authority to the compact hydraulic world in the 4 GPM HYD4050. The HYD5550 adds nearly 40% more water to the same pressure, and on stripping work, water is coverage: more square feet per hour at the pressure that actually lifts the coating.

That arithmetic targets large-area strip and prep — the jobs where a 4 GPM unit does the work but the schedule dies. Parking-structure membrane and sealer removal by the deck. Tank farm and structural steel prep by the acre of surface. Hull and topside coating work measured in days on the yard clock. Bridge and infrastructure prep where the traffic-control window is the real budget. Anywhere strip pressure meets big footage, the HYD5550 is the unit that gets the crew off the surface sooner.

Hydraulic Supply Requirements

Plan on roughly 22 hydraulic horsepower delivered continuously — the price of running production flow at strip pressure, and the number that separates this unit from its 4 GPM sibling. Depending on motor displacement, that power arrives as approximately 10 to 19 GPM of oil at correspondingly higher or lower pressure; the supply wants a strong truck hydraulic system, a high-flow machine circuit, or a dedicated power unit rather than a compact auxiliary. Size the motor to reach 1450 RPM via RPM ≈ 231 × hydraulic GPM ÷ displacement (in³), verify torque at working pressure, cap the circuit with a relief protecting the motor, and engineer return filtration and oil cooling for all-day stripping — this duty is trigger-on by the shift. Call WSHPWR with your circuit’s flow and pressure and we will spec the pairing before you order.

Coverage Math at Strip Pressure

On surface work, production rate scales with flow once the pressure threshold is met: the jets can only clean the width and pace their volume supports. Moving from 4.0 to 5.5 GPM at the same 5000 PSI is close to 40% more stripped area per hour — on a parking deck quoted by the square foot or a yard billing by the day, that is the margin. The HYD4050 remains the right call where the hydraulic supply is limited or the jobs are compact; the HYD5550 is the production version for crews whose calendar is the constraint. Same SRG platform, same nickel-plated head tolerating the strippers and degreasers this work runs alongside, same AR repair kits on the shelf.

Direct-Drive Simplicity

The hydraulic motor mounts to the pump through AR’s F38 close-couple flange — one centerline, no belts, pulleys, guards, or field alignment, minimal side loading on bearings and seals, and output independent of the host machine’s engine speed. Motor and pump dismount independently at the flange for service, and the unit installs as a bolt-down package on trucks, trailers, and skids.

SRG-Series Construction

The 402-series frame carries the SRG’s extreme-pressure head architecture: one-piece ceramic plungers, stainless wet-end components beneath the nickel plating, a die-cast crankcase with oil monitoring, and valve access through the head for inspection without dismounting the HYD5550. Under the pressure rating it remains an AR pump — standard repair kits, standard procedures, standard parts shelf.

Installation & Operation Notes

Mount horizontally and confirm motor rotation at commissioning. Feed the 1/2″ inlet from a flooded, filtered supply with short, unrestricted plumbing — 5.5 GPM at strip duty punishes marginal suction. Rate every downstream component — hose, gun, lance, surface cleaner, nozzles — for 5000 PSI with margin; nothing carried over from lower-pressure systems goes on this pump unverified. Fit an unloader against working pressure plus appropriate relief protection, size nozzle orifices to 5.5 GPM at working pressure, flush after chemical sessions to protect the nickel head, hold 1450 RPM, and winterize before cold-weather storage.

Quality Assurance & Maintenance

Every HYD5550 ships factory-tested for flow rate, pressure stability, and vibration. Maintenance follows AR’s standard schedule — crankcase oil changes, seal inspection, periodic valve checks with AR repair kits — with seal intervals respected proportionally to the 5000 PSI duty and the production hours this unit is bought to run.

HYD5550 Key Features & Applications

  • 5.5 GPM at 5000 PSI, 1450 RPM — strip-class pressure at production-class coverage.
  • Nearly 40% more stripped area per hour than the 4 GPM tier at identical pressure.
  • SRG extreme-pressure platform with nickel-plated brass head standard.
  • Requires approximately 22 hydraulic HP — strong truck systems or dedicated power units.
  • F38 close-couple direct drive; standard AR repair kits under the pressure rating.
  • Ideal for parking-structure and membrane removal, tank farm and structural steel prep, hull and topside coating work, bridge and infrastructure prep, and production strip contractors.
