RTX Pump

The RTX is AR’s largest family of industrial pumps and the one with the widest spread: 7.9 GPM at 7,250 PSI at one end, 39.6 GPM at 1,450 PSI at the other. Same frame, same 1,450 RPM, entirely different jobs. Most run a 30 mm solid shaft, though the ultra-high-pressure RTX30.500 uses 24 mm, so check the shaft on the specific model.

Most RTX models are sold as direct-drive units or as complete hydraulic motor packages, which is the first thing to settle.

Direct drive industrial pumps

Model Flow Pressure EBHP
RTX30.500 7.9 GPM 7,250 PSI 39.2
RTX50-DD 13.0 GPM 4,350 PSI 38.7
RTX60-DD 15.8 GPM 4,350 PSI 47.1
RTX70-DD 18.5 GPM 2,900 PSI 36.7
RTX85-DD 22.5 GPM 3,000 PSI 46.2
RTX150 39.6 GPM 1,450 PSI 39.3

Read the EBHP column and the design logic appears: almost every model sits between 37 and 47 HP. The RTX is one power class with the flow-versus-pressure trade made in six different places. You are not buying more capability as you go down the list, you are buying a different shape of it.

Specialist RTX pumps

  • RTX70-DD-SX, left-hand shaft for mirrored installations
  • RTX-SS100.100N, 26.4 GPM at 1,450 PSI with a stainless head for sanitary and corrosive duty
  • RTX-I 30.500N, a cross-reference part for the RTX-SS30.500

Hydraulic motor packages

If the machine already carries hydraulics, the HYD versions arrive with the motor fitted and aligned: HYD-RTX30, HYD-RTX50, HYD-RTX70.200N, HYD-RTX85-DD, and the WC variants.

There is also a HYD-RTX-SP configured for solar panel cleaning, and a HYD-RTXSS130.500 stainless hydraulic package.

On any hydraulic version, check your circuit’s available flow and pressure at working temperature before choosing a model. A starved hydraulic motor turns the pump slowly and everything looks like a pump fault.

Sizing the drive for RTX pumps

EBHP is GPM times PSI divided by 1,460. At 37 to 47 HP across the range, add margin and you are specifying 50 to 60 HP motors and three-phase service with a panel to match. This is the decision that constrains everything else, so settle it before choosing a pump.

How RTX pumps are built

  • Nickel-plated brass head, for scale and aggressive water
  • Bronze connecting rods, for torque and load
  • 30 mm solid shaft for direct coupling or pulley drive
  • 7.6 quart oil capacity, roughly four times a mid-size pump
  • 1,450 RPM

That oil capacity is the headline number. At this load the crankcase is a cooling system as much as a lubrication one, and volume is what keeps the oil temperature in range across an eight-hour shift.

Where RTX pumps are used

  • Hydro-demolition and concrete removal, where the RTX30.500 at 7,250 PSI does the cutting
  • Steel and foundry cleaning: slag, scale and buildup on furnaces, moulds and machinery
  • Oil and gas: pipeline cleaning, hydrostatic testing, rig maintenance
  • Shipyards and offshore: barnacle removal, deck sanitation, hull work
  • Municipal: graffiti, bridge cleaning, wastewater systems
  • Mining: heavy equipment and processing facility cleaning
  • Food and beverage: high-volume cleaning, where the stainless-head versions belong
  • Power and utilities: pipe cleaning, cooling towers, boiler descaling

Servicing RTX pumps

Fully rebuildable, with valve kits, piston kits, water seals, oil seals and piston guides across the plunger sizes the family uses, plus grease fittings and valve seat hardware. Kits are sized by plunger diameter, so confirm against your exact model rather than the series.

Use SAE30 non-detergent oil, AR645107 in the 1.07 gallon container. At 7.6 quarts you need roughly two containers per change, so keep both on the shelf.

Browse the RTX series, or send your required flow and pressure plus your available service and you will get a model with the drive requirement spelled out.
