AR RKA-F17 Series: Heavy-Duty Hollow Shaft Pumps for NEMA 182–184 Motors

A stationary wash bay does not need a belt drive. An RKA-F17 pump bolts straight onto the motor face, so you remove the pulleys, the belts, the rails, the alignment and the guard, and you get a package that takes up half the space.

The RKA-F17 series does exactly that: a 1-1/8 in hollow shaft on a NEMA 182 to 184 frame flange, running at 1,750 RPM.

The RKA-F17 pump models

Model Flow Pressure EBHP Motor
RKA35G30E-F17 3.5 GPM 3,000 PSI 7.2 10 HP
RKA35G40HE-F17 3.5 GPM 4,000 PSI 9.6 10 HP
RKA4G30E-F17C2I 4.0 GPM 3,000 PSI 8.2 10 HP
RKA55G13HE-F17 5.5 GPM 1,300 PSI 4.9 7.5 HP
RKA55G13E-F17-SX 5.5 GPM 1,300 PSI 4.9 7.5 HP

Related F-flange pumps cover the same idea on other motor frames, including RKA36G25E-F38 at 3.6 GPM / 2,500 PSI and RKA4G30E-VRT-PKG, which is a C-face 182T/184T package with a VRT unloader already fitted.

The SX suffix marks the left-hand shaft version, for installations where the motor has to sit on the other side.

What RKA-F17 pumps share in specification

  • Drive: 1-1/8 in hollow shaft, NEMA 182 to 184 flange
  • Speed: 1,750 RPM
  • Head: nickel-plated brass
  • Rods: bronze
  • Plungers: ceramic
  • Oil capacity: 15 oz
  • Ports: 1/2 in F inlet, 3/8 in F discharge
  • Temperature: 140°F standard on the cold-water builds, upgradeable with high-temp kits. Confirm for your model

Do not read the pressure off the model number

The G number in an AR model name often lines up with pressure, and across this particular series it does: RKA55G13HE-F17 really is 5.5 GPM at 1,300 PSI, a high-flow low-pressure unit for rinse and sanitation work that runs off a 7.5 HP motor.

But do not treat that as a rule. AR rerates pumps without renaming them, so a model whose number suggests one pressure can be published at another entirely. Flow and the flange and shaft suffixes decode reliably. Pressure does not. Read it off the listing for the specific model, every time.

It matters here because the two ends of this series do completely different jobs on very different motors.

Why direct mount

  • Space. No rails, no belt run, no guard. On a wall-mounted bay installation that is most of the footprint.
  • No alignment to maintain. The flange sets the geometry, and misalignment is the leading cause of premature bearing and seal failure on belt-driven pumps.
  • Fewer wear parts. Belts stretch, tension, and need checking. A flange does not.
  • Quieter, which matters in an enclosed plant.

The constraint is that pump speed equals motor speed. At 1,750 RPM these pair with a standard two-pole motor, but you cannot change the ratio later without changing the whole arrangement.

Where RKA-F17 pumps are used

  • Industrial wash bays: permanent installations in factories and plants
  • Fleet wash stations: bus depots, trucking facilities, rental centres
  • Food processing: USDA-compliant systems, with the high-temperature and Teflon seal kits
  • Heavy equipment cleaning: permanent shop and yard installations
  • Municipal utilities: stationary washdown and public works

The common thread is stationary and continuous. For mobile rigs, a direct-drive gas pump makes more sense.

Servicing RKA-F17 pumps

Fully rebuildable, with kits for valves, pistons, water seals, oil seals, O-rings and support rings, plus Viton seal kits for chemical duty and high-temperature kits for hot water. Single cylinder piston kits are available for quick repairs.

Kits are sized by plunger diameter, so confirm against your exact model rather than the series.
