At 7,250 PSI water is not cleaning. It is removing material. The RGX series exists for jobs where that is the point: hydro-demolition, coating removal, concrete prep, industrial descaling.

These pumps do not move much water. That is deliberate. The energy goes into pressure at the tip rather than volume across a surface.

The three RGX Series pumps

There is also a nickel-plated version of the first model, RGX1550HN, for harsh water where a plain brass head will pit.

All use a 24 mm solid shaft, brass manifold, ceramic plungers, aluminium connecting rods and a 31.8 oz crankcase.

Choosing between them

The RGX1550N and the RGXA4G70HN both deliver 4 GPM. The difference is speed: 1,450 RPM versus 1,750. The slower pump will last longer on continuous duty; the faster one pairs directly with a two-pole motor and takes less space. The 250 PSI between them is not the deciding factor.

The RGX2250N is the one to pick when 4 GPM is limiting you. At 5.8 GPM and 7,250 PSI it needs nearly 29 HP at the shaft, so budget a 30 HP motor and a three-phase supply.

Working at 7,250 PSI

This is a different category of equipment, not a stronger pressure washer.

• Every component downstream must be rated for it, with margin. That includes the quick couplers, which is where people cut corners. The ARF070 series at 10,150 PSI is the correct choice; a 4,500 PSI coupler is a projectile.
• Fit a primary relief valve, and a burst disc as a secondary.
• Operators need training for this pressure class. Water at 7,250 PSI causes injection injuries that look minor and require immediate surgical attention.
• Nozzle wear is critical. A worn orifice drops pressure and passes more water, so the machine feels weaker while working harder. Check tips on a schedule.

What it replaces

The commercial argument for ultra high pressure is usually abrasive blasting. Water-based surface prep produces no spent abrasive to contain and dispose of, which matters increasingly as regulation on abrasives tightens. It also works on substrates where blasting is too aggressive.

The trade is water management and the fact that surfaces come off wet. Neither is a small consideration on an enclosed site.

Not car washes, not fleet cleaning, not anything where flow matters more than cutting force. For those, the commercial range is the right place to look.

Servicing RGX pumps

Rebuildable with kits for valves, pistons, water seals, oil seals and piston guides. The economics strongly favour rebuilding at this price point, and these are designed to be rebuilt repeatedly.

Two things shorten RGX life more than anything else: unfiltered inlet water, and running the pump against a worn nozzle so it never reaches pressure and everyone assumes it is fine.
