If a truck or a machine already runs hydraulics, bolting a gas engine to it just to drive a pressure washer pump adds a second engine to fuel, service, winterize and start. An XM hydraulic drive pump takes power from the circuit that is already there.
The HYD-XM1515 is the compact end of that idea: an AR triplex brass pump coupled to a Sauer Danfoss hydraulic motor, small enough to fit where a second engine will not.

Check your circuit first
The hydraulic figures are the specification that matters, and they are the one people skip. This pump needs 9.5 L/min at 2,610 PSI to produce its rated 4 GPM at 3,000 PSI.
That is a modest demand, which is the point of the XM: it will run off circuits that cannot feed a larger hydraulic pump. But measure it at working temperature rather than trusting the machine’s brochure. Hydraulic output drops as oil heats and as pumps age, and a circuit that made 10 L/min new may not now.
If your circuit has more to give, the RK hydraulic family covers the range above this one: HYD-RK1520V at 4.0 GPM / 3,000 PSI, HYD-RK1528H-F38 at 4 GPM / 4,000 PSI, and HYD-RK2120HNB-DD at 5.5 GPM / 2,900 PSI. There are also lower-pressure RK1520 builds at 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 PSI for soft wash and sanitation work.
What hydraulic drive actually buys you
- One power source. No second engine to fuel, choke, service or fail to start in February.
- Space. A motor and pump assembly is far smaller than an engine, pump, fuel tank and exhaust.
- Fewer wear parts. No belts, no pulleys, no alignment to maintain, no motor wiring.
- Variable speed for free. The circuit’s flow control becomes your pressure control.
- Duty cycle. At 1,450 RPM the pump runs cooler and lasts longer than a direct-drive gas pump at 3,400.
Where the XM hydraulic drive pump is used
- Agriculture: barn and parlour sanitation, equipment washdown off a tractor’s hydraulics
- Municipal: street cleaning and waste management rigs that already run hydraulic
- Construction and mining: dust suppression and equipment cleaning on remote sites with no power
- Forestry: sawmill and logging equipment washdown
- Fleet and transport: mobile trailer systems for trucks, buses and rental equipment
- Oilfield: washdown on hydraulic-powered rigs
The common thread is that the vehicle is already the power plant. If your application has grid power or a spare engine, an electric or gas pump will usually cost less for the same output.
XM pump maintenance
- Pump oil to AR spec for your build. Check it at the sight glass, not by feel.
- Hydraulic temperature. The failure mode on these installations is almost always an overheating hydraulic circuit, not the water pump. On continuous duty, confirm the circuit has enough cooling capacity for the extra load.
- Hydraulic hoses and fittings inspected for leaks and rated above working pressure.
- Water seals and oil seals replaced proactively rather than at failure.
- Mounting checked for tightness. Mobile installations vibrate constantly and that is what loosens things.
XM pump service parts
The pump end is available separately as the AR26472 RK15.20 with NPT ports, for rebuilds where the hydraulic motor is still good. Seal kits are available for both the pump and the motor.
Know your circuit’s flow and pressure? Send those two numbers and you will get a pump your machine can actually drive, rather than one that looks right on paper.
