XWL50.15N - 13.2GPM 2200PSI

The XWL Series is AR’s high-flow commercial platform: 10.8 to 13.2 GPM at 1,450 RPM on a 24 mm solid shaft, with a 32 oz crankcase. It sits between the contractor pumps and the big industrial families, and it is the range most fleet and facility installations end up in.

The XWL Series models

Model Flow Pressure EBHP Notes
XWL42.15N 11.0 GPM 2,200 PSI 16.6 The common one
XWL42.20N 11.0 GPM 3,000 PSI 22.6 Same flow, more pressure
XWL41.21N-SX 10.8 GPM 3,000 PSI 22.2 Left-hand shaft
XWL48.21N 12.68 GPM 3,000 PSI 26.1
XWL50.15N 13.0 GPM 2,175 PSI 19.4
XWL50.20NB 13.0 GPM 3,000 PSI 26.7 Bronze rods
XWL50.20HNB 13.2 GPM 3,000 PSI 27.1 Nickel-plated head

Motors run from 20 to 30 HP once you add margin to EBHP. The 42.15N at 2,200 PSI and the 42.20N at 3,000 move identical water, and the pressure difference costs 6 HP, so if you are rinsing rather than removing, take the lower-pressure model and the smaller motor.

Hot water and stainless XWL pumps

The HT builds are rated to 185°F: XWL42.15NHT and XWL50.15NHT. Do not substitute a standard model into a hot water system; the seals are the difference.

For sanitary and corrosive work the XWL-SS line runs the same flow band with a stainless head, from XWLSS33.08N at 8.72 GPM / 1,200 PSI to XWLSS50.20NB with a 316L head.

How XWL pumps are built

  • Head: brass, with nickel-plated options on the HNB models
  • Connecting rods: aluminium on standard builds, bronze on the NB models for the hardest continuous duty
  • Shaft: 24 mm solid, for belt drive or direct motor coupling
  • Speed: 1,450 RPM
  • Oil: 32 oz, doing most of the cooling
  • Weight: around 34 lbs

The 1,450 RPM is the reason these survive continuous duty. A pump this size at 3,400 RPM would generate friction heat faster than the crankcase could carry it away.

The supply constraint

13 GPM is well past what a garden hose delivers. These need a tank feed and a properly sized supply line, kept short and full bore. Starve one and it cavitates, and at this size cavitation means valve seats.

Where XWL pumps are used

  • Fleet and vehicle washing: trucking fleets, bus depots, rental companies
  • Food processing: sanitation and USDA-compliant washdown, usually with the stainless head
  • Municipal: sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal, facility maintenance
  • Construction and heavy equipment: excavators, loaders, concrete trucks
  • Manufacturing and recycling: general cleaning, degreasing, waste operations
  • Agriculture: hog barns, poultry houses, crop equipment
  • Marine and ports: vessel washing, dock sanitation

Servicing XWL pumps

Fully rebuildable, with valve kits, piston kits, water seals, oil seals and hot water seal sets, plus rail kits in 1-1/4 in, 2-1/2 in and U-bracket for mounting. Part numbers differ between standard, NB and HT builds, so confirm against your exact MPN rather than the series.

At this size the maintenance schedule is the ownership case. Oil on interval, seals replaced before they fail, and a clean filtered inlet.
