The Bolondi BIRW220A is a rotary jet cleaning head for the inside of tanks, built entirely in AISI 316 stainless and rated to 2,900 PSI. It exists to replace confined-space entry with a closed cycle.

Made in Reggio Emilia, and aimed at IBC totes, large tanks, reactors and industrial containers in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and wastewater work.

How the BIRW220A works

A self-contained water-motor drive. Pressurised fluid entering the head powers a turbine, which drives rotary arms in both vertical and horizontal planes, producing a controlled 360° pattern.

The nozzles emit concentrated high-impact jets that scour walls, seams and corners. The cleaning is two mechanisms working together: jet impact breaks the deposit, and hydraulic flushing carries it downstream.

Because the drive is hydraulic, there is no electrical or pneumatic connection. In a solvent tank that is not a convenience, it removes an entire category of hazard classification.

Nozzle geometry lets the head work across a range of flow rates, so it adapts to the CIP system or mobile rig you already have rather than dictating one. Check your pump’s flow against the head’s working range before specifying: flow affects rotation speed and therefore coverage, not just impact.

Why stainless matters here

A tank cleaning head lives in the harshest chemistry in the plant, because it is in contact with the cleaning solution at temperature for the entire cycle.

There is also no gearbox and no external motor, so there is very little to fail and nothing to seal against the process fluid.

Fitted into a CIP loop or a mobile cart, the BIRW220A runs an automated cycle without intervention. What that buys a facility:

• Shorter changeover between production runs
• No confined-space entry, which removes the permit, the attendant and the risk
• Lower water and chemical use, because targeted jets do in one cycle what flooding does in three
• Repeatable results, which is what matters under FDA, USDA or EU hygiene requirements

That last point carries the most weight in regulated plants. A manual clean varies by operator and cannot be validated. A jet head cycle runs the same way every time and can be documented.
